In otherwise arid and semi-arid terrain, the Indus River waters a wide plain that is used extensively agriculture. In this true-color image from January 25, 2002, the fertile Indus River plain can be seen making a dark green s-shaped swath through Pakistan (right) before it empties into the Arabian Sea. A reminder of the otherwise arid conditions that exist in the region, dust plumes are stretching out over the Sea from Pakistan's southern coast. At the far left of the image, dust can also be seen blowing over Iran and out over the Sea.
