This image, a subset of MODIS' first image, shows James Bay, a saltwater body that occupies an area of 32,000km<sup>2</sup> and is the southern extension of Hudson Bay. Fast ice (smooth-looking ice grounded to the shore) is visible around edge of Bay and Akimiski Island.
